Pitching Tents Online: Web Portal Update & In-Game Booking Systems
We've launched our new studio web hub alongside an in-depth look at how we're building Caravan Park Tycoon's guest booking pipeline in Godot 4.
Welcome back to the Fin & Games devlog! If you’ve visited our domain recently, you might have noticed things look a little different around here. We’ve just rolled out a major website update for Caravan Park Tycoon, complete with a refreshed press kit, interactive park layout teasers, and a dedicated dev hub where you can track our progress toward our first public playtest.
Alongside the shiny new web portal, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes in Godot 4, translating the chaotic reality of British holiday park management—from peak-season booking rushes to handling complaints about damp awnings—into responsive simulation systems.
Sprucing Up the Digital Front Desk
Our primary goal with the new website was to create a cozy, authentic digital home that reflects the seaside nostalgia central to Caravan Park Tycoon. We wanted the site to feel like pulling up to a reception office in Skegness or Dorset circa 1998, complete with retro brochure aesthetics and quick access to development news.
Beyond visual flair, the site now integrates directly with our community platform. Visitors can now:
- Sign up for Closed Alpha Testing: Secure a spot to help us balance guest AI and economy curves.
- Explore Interactive Pitch Blueprints: Preview how static caravans, luxury lodges, and tent hookups snap together on different terrain types.
- Access the Press Kit: High-res screenshots, key art, and studio assets for creators and journalists.
Godot Architecture: Simulating the Seasonal Booking Engine
In Caravan Park Tycoon, managing guest flow isn’t just about placing toilets and bingo halls; it’s about predicting the tidal wave of British holidaymakers who book six months in advance.
To handle this in Godot 4, we built a modular Booking Manager System driven by custom Resource scripts and a signal-based event queue.

By separating guest generation into modular GDScript Resource objects (GuestProfile, ParkPitch), we keep memory overhead low while allowing thousands of simulated holidaymakers to evaluate pitch prices, distance to the nearest chip shop, and site amenities asynchronously. The UI uses custom Control node themes that mimic both our web layout and in-game retro computer terminals.
Design Philosophy: Capturing Coastal Nostalgia
A major challenge in simulating a British holiday park is balancing cozy management with real-world quirkiness. We don’t want a generic theme park manager with a seaside skin; we want Caravan Park Tycoon to feel distinctly local.
This month, we focused on three core design pillars:
- The Great British Weather Factor: Rain doesn’t stop the holiday, but it does drive guests into the indoor arcade and clubhouses. If your drainage infrastructure is poor, pitch muddying will plummet guest satisfaction ratings.
- Tiered Accommodation Mechanics: Managing cheap grass tent pitches requires vastly different logic than running high-end static caravans with hot tubs. High-tier guests demand Wi-Fi and manicured lawns, while campers just want a level plot and hot showers.
- Seaside Economy: Balancing ticket prices for slot machines, slush ice machines, and late-night bingo acts forms the backbone of your park’s cash flow during shoulder seasons.
What’s Next on the Itinerary
With the website update officially live and our booking architecture stable, our focus shifts toward the environment and weather interaction pipelines.
Over the next sprint, we’ll be working on:
- Coastal Storm & Gale Systems: Dynamic wind and rain effects using Godot’s 3D particle systems and terrain shaders.
- Guest Feedback Loops: In-game review forms (“The soft serve machine was out of order, 2/5 stars”) that directly impact your park’s rating on the site web-board.
- Alpha Playtest Prep: Polishing the first playable map—Salty Cove—for our initial wave of playtesters signed up through the new website.
